Window Film Tax Credit Re-Instated for 2013!

Window Film Tax Credit Re-Instated for 2013!

We are pleased to announce that Congress has re-instated the Window Film Tax Credit for 2013! Again, this is a tax credit, not a deduction, so the amount earned is directly added to your return, or is deducted from what you owe!

How it works: The tax credit is for 10% of the “materials” portion of your order, up to $500. GPS charges a small labor rate, which means you can expect a maximum amount in return. After installation, GPS will provide you with a simple breakdown of the materials/labor costs on your invoice, and provide you with the 1 page tax document, which you will then submit to your tax preparer. While you await your credit, the window film will be hard at work to lower energy costs so as to speed the return on investment!

Is there a minimum amount of windows that must be filmed? No. Unlike power company rebates, there is no minimum amount of windows you must film. However, the more you complete, the larger the credit and the faster the return on investment.

Which films qualify? If your home was built before 2010, and the windows- as far as you know- are original from the builder, then you likely have single paned windows. EnerLogic, our most prestigious product, is the 1 qualifying film. If your home was built after 2010, or if you’ve had double paned windows installed, then the list expands to Vista V14, and LLumar N1020 bronze.  Your GPS representative will assist in demonstrating these products.
